Legendary arranger Moshe Laufer and producer Levik Touboul have reunited fifteen years after launching their groundbreaking series to release Chabad with Moshe Laufer 6, the latest installment in a collection that has become popular among Chassidic music enthusiasts worldwide.
The original album, released in 2011, helped reshape the landscape of Chabad music. Over the years, the series has become a fixture in homes, farbrengens, weddings and celebrations globally, exposing a new generation to Chabad niggunim through Laufer's distinctive orchestral arrangements.
The new album features a curated selection of Chabad melodies, balancing well-known pieces with less familiar ones. Rather than fundamentally altering the niggunim, Laufer's approach emphasizes the melodies themselves, using orchestration to enhance rather than overshadow their inherent warmth and spiritual character.
Vocalists Eli Marcus, Mendy Jerufi, Yoni Shlomo and Boruch Shalom contribute to the album, while the New York choir A Kappele, directed by Yossi Cohen, provides harmonies. The ensemble was chosen for its familiarity with these melodies and their traditional style. Production included mixing by Mendy Friedman and Aviv Yerimi and mastering by Eli Lishinsky.
The album was released on the eve of Tu B'Av and is now available worldwide.
