Musician Gershon Wachtel has released "A Niggun's Journey," His first album in 18 years. The collection features Chassidic niggunim arranged and performed on piano.
Wachtel last released albums in 2008, which found audiences in homes, schools, synagogues, Chabad Houses, and beyond. His new work returns to that musical territory with piano interpretations of beloved Chassidic melodies.
"Every niggun has its own story," Wachtel said. "Some niggunim lift you up. Some bring you back to a certain time or place. Some connect you to people, memories, and feelings you may not have thought about in years. This album is about that journey."
The arrangements preserve the essence of each niggun while offering a fresh presentation. According to Wachtel, the aim is not to alter the melodies but to allow them space to resonate, offering listeners an opportunity to experience them in a personal and meaningful way.
Beyond recording, Wachtel continues to perform at farbrengens, simchos, and community events. He also regularly hosts live streams on social media where audiences can watch him perform.
