Israel and Venezuela have agreed to restore consular relations, establishing an official coordination channel between the two nations for the first time since ties were cut in 2009. The arrangement came after discussions between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia. Under the agreement, the countries will set up a system to deliver consular services to their citizens and will maintain cooperation on emergency response and reconstruction work following earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24.
