Fauci Privately Warned of Miscarriage Risk Linked to COVID Vaccine While Publicly Claiming No Issues, Newly Released Texts Show

Recently disclosed text messages reveal that Dr. Anthony Fauci privately discussed the possibility that COVID-19 vaccination could "theoretically" Be associated with miscarriages during early pregnancy, while publicly stating there were "no red flags" For pregnant women receiving the vaccine.

In a January 25, 2021, text exchange with then-CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Fauci wrote, "I asked around a bit more and another issue came up that you need to be aware of." He continued: "Since many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester."

The three officials were evaluating whether the two-dose vaccine regimen might present different risks depending on pregnancy stage. Walensky responded that the first trimester concern was "definitely a good point, [especially] after dose two."

Over a week later, on February 3, Fauci addressed the topic publicly during a Journal of the American Medical Association livestream, stating the FDA had "found thus far, and we have to be careful, but thus far no red flags about that, about pregnant women."

Months afterward, while serving as President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, Fauci publicly encouraged vaccination during pregnancy, citing federal monitoring data. He said "tens and tens and tens of thousands of women who have been followed by the CDC, who have been vaccinated when they were pregnant" Showed "no indication whatsoever that there's any increase of any adverse issues in a pregnant woman who was vaccinated compared to a pregnant woman who wasn't vaccinated... it's pretty clear that pregnant women should get vaccinated."

The communications also show officials weighing vaccination risks against dangers from the virus itself. Murthy expressed concern after the World Health Organization issued guidance on the Moderna vaccine and pregnancy, writing he was "surprised to see WHO put out a strong like saying they do not recommend moderna [sic] in pregnant women" And calling it a statement "potentially quite damaging to public confidence among pregnant women."

The messages were released by Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson after the Senate Homeland Security Committee obtained over 34,000 text messages and 522 voicemail recordings from Fauci's government phone. The two Republican senators noted that only three contacts appeared on the device, though they cautioned it was "too early to determine whether any data has been deleted."
