Fired Burger King Worker Raises Nearly $250,000 After "Free Palestine" Remark; Gazans Paint Mural in Her Honor

A former Burger King employee in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, was fired after telling a customer "Free Palestine" During a workplace interaction. The customer, Rami Feinstein, an Israeli-American musician, identified himself as Israeli after initially saying he was from New Jersey, which prompted the remark from the employee, Arianna Hamilton.

Burger King confirmed the termination. Hamilton subsequently posted a video defending her actions, stating she was exercising free speech and not intending to discriminate or spread hate, and that she aimed to highlight the situation in Gaza.

Hamilton launched a GoFundMe campaign titled "Support Arianna After Job Loss for Free Speech," Initially seeking $140,000 for living expenses including rent, utilities, and groceries while seeking new employment. The fundraising goal was later raised to $250,000. The campaign has raised more than $240,000 from thousands of donors. Hamilton said any money beyond her basic needs would go to families in Palestine.

Artists in Gaza created a mural depicting Hamilton in her Burger King uniform and headset, alongside a crossed-out Burger King logo and the words "Free Palestine." Videos of the mural spread widely on social media as a show of solidarity.

The incident has generated contrasting responses, with supporters praising Hamilton for speaking out and critics calling the workplace remark inappropriate and questioning the donation amounts relative to a fast-food job loss. Burger King has not issued statements beyond confirming the termination, and Hamilton has not publicly disclosed her future employment plans.
