Antisemitic flyers bearing neo-Nazi imagery were discovered in the unincorporated Orange County community of Coto de Caza, California, according to Katrina Foley, vice chair of the county's board of supervisors, who announced the finding on Tuesday.
Located approximately 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles, the community received flyers containing a message stating, "We are with you Palestine. A replacement by the Jews is coming for you and me." The materials displayed the name "the National Social Order" With a swastika symbol.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department has opened an investigation into the incident.
Foley responded to the discovery, saying "These hateful acts seek to intimidate, manipulate and spread fear with the goal of pitting our neighbors against one another. This weaponized division will never define Orange County."
Joey Good, senior director of community relations at the Jewish Federation of Orange County, characterized the flyers as "neo-Nazi propaganda and the organizations that spread it should have no place in our Orange County - and that's exactly what these flyers represent."
Good called on local officials to condemn the material and urged law enforcement to investigate it as a hate incident, adding that "Silence is not an option."
