GAZA WARNING: IDF Surveillance Soldiers Say They're Seeing 'October 7 All Over Again'

IDF surveillance soldiers deployed along the Gaza border are warning of suspicious terrorist activity inside the Strip, drawing comparisons to the period preceding the October 7 attack - when similar alerts were largely disregarded. According to Channel 12, the soldiers have observed armed Hamas operatives operating and placing explosives near the Yellow Line, which marks the boundary between Israeli-controlled and Hamas-controlled areas.

One surveillance soldier stated: "I feel just like on October 6. What's the difference? That we're identifying it on the Yellow Line and not on the fence. That's the difference. We're really seeing that they know we won't fire on them. The Gazans aren't idiots. In the end, they're constantly testing us and seeing if we react or not. It's just like before October 7."

Another soldier described frustration with the perceived lack of response to identified threats. "We feel a little unnecessary. If I know that, in any case, they won't do anything with my identification [of terror activity], what's the point of my sitting eight hours a day and monitoring the area super-super-closely?" She said.

The warnings emerge amid ongoing U.S.-backed efforts toward Hamas disarmament. Israel paused airstrikes in Gaza for a week before resuming operations, with recent strikes requiring approval from the IDF Chief of Staff.

One soldier also expressed concern for Israeli forces operating inside Gaza, noting: "In the end, the soldiers are stationed a few hundred meters from these terrorists. We can't just abandon them."

The current alerts mirror pre-October 7 intelligence that went unheeded, when the October 7 attack resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and hundreds taken hostage.
