Israeli forces are maintaining surveillance and fire control across much of the area. In some sections, the IDF relies on observation and strike capability rather than maintaining a continuous ground presence, enabling airstrikes against portions of the complex while reducing soldier exposure.
The Ali Taher ridge, located near Beaufort Castle and overlooking the border region, is strategically significant. Israeli operations there have continued despite ceasefire arrangements intended to halt fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the operation Sunday, stating: "In recent days Israel has acted forcefully in Lebanon, eliminating terrorists, including on the Ali Taher ridge. I can't elaborate on it. We are in the midst of a very important operation. We are working with careful judgment and prudence."
The current operation followed an incident last month when Hezbollah launched an explosive-laden drone at an Israeli military engineering vehicle on the ridge. No injuries were reported. Israel subsequently conducted a major operation against Hezbollah's underground infrastructure near Beaufort Castle, deploying approximately 700 metric tons of explosives and generating a blast felt across the border in northern Israel. Residents in Galilee Panhandle communities were advised to open windows as a precaution against potential blast damage.
Israeli officials have limited their response at the site due to diplomatic sensitivities surrounding military operations in Lebanon.
