Huckabee Warns Antisemitism Becoming 'Dangerous Trend' In American Politics

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee expressed concern that antisemitism is increasingly becoming a dangerous force in American politics, citing recent developments within the Democratic Party as evidence the hostility toward Jews is gaining mainstream traction.

Speaking on Newsmax's Saturday Report, Huckabee pointed to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's decision to skip her party's nominating convention due to concerns about antisemitism and her personal safety.

"It's a disturbing trend for the Democrats that I hope that they will change," Huckabee said.

While identifying himself as a Republican, Huckabee argued that a functioning political system benefits from two strong, responsible parties. "I'm a Republican. I'm a pretty partisan Republican," He said. "But having said that, I wish there would be a competitive and a sane Democrat Party. It frankly makes both parties better to have a competitive environment."

Huckabee contended the Democratic Party has shifted significantly leftward both economically and socially, moving "so far to the left with socialism on the economic side, and with Jew hatred on the social side, that they are rapidly becoming the party of the insane." He added, "And it's not healthy. Not just for the Democrats. This isn't healthy for America."

He urged people to understand antisemitism for what it represents. "We call it antisemitism. But let's be clear what it is. It's just hating Jews irrationally," Huckabee stated. "Today, I want my Christian friends to hear me. Tomorrow they'll hate the Christians."

Regarding Israeli perspectives on U.S. Political developments, Huckabee said many Israelis are deeply troubled. He described them as "very concerned" And "alarmed," Adding, "Frankly, I am too. I've been gone from the U.S. for a year and a half living here. It's almost like I'm watching things in my own country and I'm thinking, 'What's happened over there? Where did this stuff start?'"

On Middle East developments, Huckabee noted Israel is monitoring a newly announced mutual defense pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan with caution. He said Israelis harbor "genuine anxieties about both Pakistan as well as Turkey, especially Turkey," Citing what he characterized as "very threatening" And "really bizarre" Statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Huckabee concluded by expressing hope regional countries would pursue closer relationships with the United States and Israel. "All of these countries would be far better off if they would be working with the United States and Israel for normalization rather than for radicalization," He said. "But unfortunately, we're seeing the opposite."
