IDF General Slams Debate Over Chareidi Draft: "Enough With All This False Populism"

Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter criticized the debate among parties in the anti-government bloc over the enlistment of Chareidi men in the IDF. "Almost all the politicians have been arguing in recent days," Winter said in a video he posted. "One says he'll draft all the Chareidim, one says he'll draft 99% of the Chareidim, one says 70%, and on the other side they say that not a single Chareidi will enlist."

Winter questioned the track record of politicians and military officials over the past two decades, asking what concrete results had been achieved despite years of debate. He characterized their efforts as attempts to gain political advantage without producing meaningful solutions.

According to Winter, successfully drafting and integrating Chareidim into the IDF requires more than political rhetoric. "Drafting Chareidim and integrating them into the IDF will not be accomplished through populism, but through hard work and building trust. Through working with the Chareidi community itself." Winter concluded by stating, "So enough already with all this false populism."
