The Israel Defense Forces said it eliminated two Hamas terrorists in separate airstrikes in Gaza, including a platoon commander involved in the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
Ahmad Hisham Mahmoud Louh, identified as the last remaining sniper cell commander in Hamas's Nuseirat Battalion, was killed in a strike in southern Gaza on Monday. In a separate strike in the northern Strip the same day, the IDF eliminated Mahmoud Ali Mahmoud Taroush, a Hamas platoon commander who participated in the Oct. 7 cross-border assault.
The military said the two "attempted to advance terror attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians" And "posed a threat to the troops." Both were killed in what the IDF described as "precise aerial strikes."
The IDF noted that ground troops remain deployed in the enclave under the terms of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement and will continue operating "to remove any threat."
