Iran's military said on Wednesday that it conducted overnight drone strikes against U.S. Military installations in Jordan and Bahrain in retaliation for American attacks.
According to Fars News, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated outlet, unmanned aerial vehicles targeted housing units and an equipment depot at a military base in Jordan, as well as hangars and buildings housing U.S. Troops at a facility in Bahrain. Jordan and Bahrain had not commented as of Wednesday.
One of the attacks on Jordanian territory struck the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, where a prior Iranian missile attack on July 17 had killed at least two U.S. Service members. The U.S. Military confirmed on Tuesday that a third service member missing since that attack was also likely killed. Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, is "believed to be deceased," The Department of Defense said, with her status updated to "Duty Status - Whereabouts Unknown."
The July 17 attack consisted of three separate Iranian missile strikes on the base. The final strike killed the service members, according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal. The two other casualties identified on Monday were First Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, from Carrollton, Texas.
The deadly strike hit prefabricated housing units where troops were living and sleeping, according to U.S. Officials cited by the Wall Street Journal. The first two strikes damaged the base gym and an unoccupied aircraft hangar. Air-raid sirens allowed troops to take shelter, though some were injured while moving to bunkers.
