Israel's Defense Ministry is developing a strategy to increase domestic weapons production and decrease dependence on foreign arms suppliers, according to Maj. Gen. Amir Baram (res.), the ministry's director general, following discussions with Manufacturers Association President Avraham Novogrodsky.
The ministry outlined the initiative in a statement, with Baram stating the plan would promote "blue and white" Self-reliance in essential munitions components and broaden production capacity for weapons systems. Funding would come partly from higher defense exports and the government's 350 Plan force development program.
Novogrodsky characterized Israel's defense industry as a "strategic asset" And called for complete execution of government funding commitments to maintain local procurement and strengthen domestic producers.
