Italy's ITA Airways suspended its flights to Israel through Monday, citing operational reasons during a period of heightened regional tensions.
The suspension came after a U.S. Embassy security alert issued Friday warned of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions due to escalating Middle East tensions. The move affected the carrier's Rome-Tel Aviv service, which had recently resumed earlier this month.
Austrian Airlines also canceled its Saturday flights to and from Tel Aviv, with Channel 12 TV reporting that airline crews declined to operate the route to Israel.
Israeli aviation authorities said Ben-Gurion International Airport was operating normally over the weekend. U.S. Carriers including Delta and United are scheduled to resume Israel flights in September.
