Jared Kushner to Visit Israel and Egypt Next Week With Board of Peace Officials to Talk Gaza

President Donald Trump's son-in-law and negotiator Jared Kushner will travel to the Middle East next week as part of efforts to advance an end to the Gaza conflict, following Israeli pushback against a recently announced Trump administration proposal.

Kushner, along with Board of Peace high representative Nickolay Mladenov and executive board member former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, will arrive in Israel on Sunday, according to an official with the Board of Peace - the body Trump established to oversee the ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

The delegation will then proceed to Cairo for meetings with a Palestinian technocratic group preparing to assume control of Gaza under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal. Such meetings have been occurring there for several months, the official said.

The official, speaking anonymously due to ongoing trip planning, said the visit would show Trump and the Board of Peace's commitment to "see peace, prosperity and sustainable security emerge" In a demilitarized Gaza where Hamas would cede control to enable territorial reconstruction.

Israel has publicly rejected a recent Trump proposal for Hamas to disarm and Israeli forces to withdraw from Palestinian territory. While Hamas accepted the disarmament plan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would not withdraw until Hamas has completely disarmed, marking a rare point of friction with the Trump administration.

The deal had been viewed as a potential breakthrough for ending the war. It was based on an October ceasefire that halted major military operations and resulted in the release of remaining Gaza hostages, though progress has stalled on later elements.
