JetBlue Airways is simplifying its booking process and preparing for a domestic first-class launch by restructuring its fare offerings.
Beginning in the coming days, passengers will select an onboard experience first - choosing between seating and amenities - then pick a fare type within that category.
The airline's offerings include Main, its standard economy cabin with free high-speed Wi-Fi, seatback entertainment and complimentary snacks and drinks; EvenMore, a premium-economy option with extra legroom, priority security screening where available, earlier boarding and dedicated overhead bin space; BlueFirst, a new domestic first-class experience rolling out later this year on non-Mint aircraft and routes; and Mint, the existing lie-flat premium cabin on select longer routes.
Three fare options will be available across most experiences. Base fares are the lowest-priced option, including a carry-on bag but not advance seat selection, with changes and cancellations subject to fees and refunds issued as travel credit. Standard fares include seat selection and no change fees, with cancellations yielding travel credit. Flex fares offer the most flexibility, including seat selection, no change fees and refunds to the original payment method for eligible cancellations. Base fares will be available for Main, EvenMore and BlueFirst but not Mint. Members earn varying TrueBlue points depending on the fare selected.
"With the introduction of BlueFirst and our recently improved EvenMore experience, we want to make sure customers can easily find the JetBlue experiences they are looking for," JetBlue President Marty St. George said in a statement. "In two simple clicks, customers will be able to book what's right for them. First, the onboard experience, and then the fare option depending on their preferences around seat selection and refundability."
Existing bookings will retain their original benefits. The changes replace JetBlue's previous Core fare structure, though TrueBlue Mosaic members and JetBlue credit cardholders will continue receiving their usual benefits. Additional BlueFirst details are expected later this year.
