WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)-Claims that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza are false, according to analyst Jim Hanson, who argues the civilian-to-combatant death ratio in the conflict is lower than that of U.S. forces in Iraq and other major urban battles.
Hanson said critics, including those he described as Israel-haters and commentator Piers Morgan, refuse to acknowledge the data. He maintained that the ratio of civilians killed relative to enemy fighters in Gaza has been more favorable than comparable U.S. operations.

“That’s before you add the myriad war crimes of Hamas designed to get their own people killed. YES purposely,” Hanson wrote.
He rejected the idea that proportionality requires Israel to limit its response to the number of Israelis killed in the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack, which killed about 1,200 people. Proportionality, he said, refers to force that is proportional to a legitimate military objective.
“After decades of terror from Hamas the military goal was its destruction and complete removal from Gaza,” Hanson stated.
Gazans elected Hamas, he argued, and therefore share responsibility for the consequences when the group’s actions brought Israeli military response. Hamas, he added, deliberately embeds itself among civilians to maximize casualties and international criticism.
Hanson accused media outlets and frequent critics of Israel of inventing both a “Gaza genocide” narrative and an “even more absurd Gaza famine” claim to damage Israel’s reputation. He said the campaign has been “far too effective” and urged continued opposition to it.
