KUSHNER RETURNING: Trump Adviser To Press Netanyahu On Hamas Disarmament Proposal

Jared Kushner is expected to travel to Israel next week for discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a U.S.-backed disarmament proposal for Hamas, according to a source familiar with the matter. Kushner, the president's son-in-law and a key figure in the Abraham Accords, will be accompanied by Board of Peace Gaza envoy Nikolay Mladenov. The specific date has not yet been confirmed.

During the visit, Kushner plans to encourage Netanyahu to allow the Board of Peace's disarmament initiative to proceed. Hamas accepted the framework two weeks prior, though progress has stalled following Netanyahu's public rejection of provisions that would require gradual Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza. Israel nonetheless suspended airstrikes in Gaza for more than a week before resuming operations earlier this week.

Kushner and Mladenov are also expected to push for Israel to restore the military pause and honor humanitarian commitments under the October 2025 ceasefire agreement. The Board of Peace believes these actions could enable Hamas to begin surrendering weapons. Diplomatic sources, however, remain doubtful substantial progress will occur before Israel's October elections, given Netanyahu's reluctance to publicly shift his stance during the campaign.

An Arab diplomat indicated that both Kushner and Mladenov have become frustrated with Netanyahu's public dismissal of the plan. Kushner's previous visit to Israel followed his involvement in brokering the October 2025 ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas.
