LIKUD BATTLE: Deri Backs Candidates Who Championed Chareidi Priorities

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri is directing Chareidi activists to support several candidates in the upcoming Likud primaries, according to a report by B'Chadrei Chareidim. The candidates have focused on issues of concern to the Chareidi community during the current Knesset term.

Deri's priority endorsements include Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman MK Boaz Bismuth and Finance Committee chairman MK Hanoch Milwidsky. Both have secured backing from Chareidi officials for their legislative work.

Milwidsky, in his Finance Committee role, has addressed budgetary and economic matters affecting the Chareidi public, including disputes involving the attorney general and the High Court. Bismuth has been central to negotiations and debates on the draft law and the status of yeshiva bochurim in his committee position.

Deri has also directed support toward Coalition Chairman MK Ofir Katz and MK Avichay Buaron in the primary race. The effort reflects a strategy of backing Likud lawmakers who have assisted the Chareidi community on key political and legislative matters.

Chareidi activists with influence among Likud members are being encouraged to reciprocate support as the party prepares its slate for the next Knesset. The Likud primaries are scheduled for Monday, August 17.
