A 60-year-old man is in critical condition after being pulled unconscious from the Mediterranean Sea at a Bat Yam beach on Friday afternoon. Lifeguards rescued him from the water near Sunset Beach after he apparently experienced distress while swimming. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found him without a pulse and not breathing.
United Hatzalah medics initiated advanced resuscitation efforts immediately and continued CPR during transport to the hospital. Shmuel Malka, head of United Hatzalah's Bat Yam branch, along with EMTs Yaakov Ladkani and Orel Zada, responded to the incident.
"We were informed at the scene that he had drowned and was pulled from the water by the lifeguards. We performed resuscitation efforts on him, and he was then evacuated to the hospital while CPR continued. He is in critical condition," Malka said.
Emergency crews worked to stabilize the man before transporting him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
