Mossad's Secret Leak Sparks Panic Across Arab World, Psychological Warfare Expert Says

A mysterious report in which one Arab leader allegedly urged another to sign an agreement to "lull Israel to sleep" Represents a sophisticated Mossad psychological warfare operation that has created significant anxiety among Arab leaders, according to psychological warfare expert Dr. Ron Schleifer.

In comments to Arutz Sheva-Israel National News, Schleifer characterized the leaked account as a calculated intelligence operation. Though the identities of the two leaders remain unknown, he suggested that disclosing their names is secondary to the operation's broader aims. "Israel is probably eavesdropping on Arab leaders and decided to spread this report. Amit Segal is the one who received the report; he's the ideal choice since he has right-wing views and works for Channel 12, which is still the most popular channel in Israel; that way, you get maximum exposure."

Schleifer outlined several strategic dimensions to the operation. The two unidentified leaders face considerable personal pressure from uncertainty about whether their identities will eventually become public. "They aren't eating, not drinking, out of worry, pressure, and fear of the huge embarrassment they'll have when their identities are revealed; and they will be revealed at some point to the Western audience."

Beyond the immediate impact on those involved, the leak conveys a message to Arab governments broadly: Israeli intelligence may be intercepting their most confidential communications and secrets, fostering widespread suspicion and unease.

The operation also show Israeli intelligence capabilities without requiring public displays. "You don't need military and technology fairs to hint at this. One line to a journalist does the job. Another gain is the increase in the level of anxiety in the Arab world, where everyone is asking who these two leaders are."

Schleifer noted that many Israelis recognize deception as a tactic employed by Arab governments, citing Egypt as an example. "We have a peace treaty with Egypt, but it violated it in the first week after it was signed, and now the entire Sinai Peninsula has become a platform for military equipment rather than a means of fighting ISIS."

Schleifer expressed approval of Israel's shift toward psychological warfare operations, noting involvement by Unit 8200, the Shin Bet, the IDF, and the Mossad under Roman Gofman's leadership. "The entire Arab world is boiling because of two lines leaked to a journalist. All of this followed a phone call to a journalist who can be trusted. This is a good sign."
