Rabbi Chaim and Tzirl Raitport, along with their son, are relocating to Mazatlan, Mexico, to serve as shluchim. The coastal city in Sinaloa state, situated on the Pacific Ocean, currently has no shluchim serving the entire state, making the Raitports' presence significant for both the local Jewish community and surrounding areas.
Mazatlan attracts a substantial Jewish population through its communities of Canadian and American expats and regular cruise ship visitors. The Raitports have already visited for holiday observances and report positive experiences. According to Rabbi Chaim, "When we first were trying to find yidden each one felt they were the only Jew in the city. Baruch Hashem we had an incredible turnout on Purim and the Shabbos that followed. It really brought a sense of hope and community to the people there and gave us all a glimpse at what's to come."
The announcement seeks support for their work, noting that donations made on this occasion are associated with a tradition of multiplied blessings.
