Rashida Tlaib South Florida Events Relocated After Backlash
U.S. Rep.
U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan is campaigning in South Florida this Friday on behalf of progressive primary challengers, including Oliver Larkin against Rep. Jared Moskowitz, Elijah Manley against Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and state Rep. Angie Nixon in the U.S. Senate race against Alex Vindman.
A late-night "Chomp the Vote" Rally in Broward is scheduled to build momentum ahead of Tuesday's primary election. The event's original venue in Wilton Manors canceled late Thursday following objections from state Rep. Michael Gottlieb and others, who contended the gathering targeted Jewish incumbents and included anti-Israel speakers.
Organizers announced they have relocated the rally to The Downtown Event Center in Fort Lauderdale and intend to proceed as planned. Tlaib is also scheduled for a dinner in Miami Beach and a volunteer event in Lauderdale Lakes.
Early voting in Florida concludes Sunday.
