Rep. Joe Wilson praises Saudi, Turkey, Pakistan defense pact as Trump 'achievement'

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) credited President Donald Trump with the formation of a mutual defense pact involving Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. In a post on X, Wilson stated: "The mutual defense pact of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan is another achievement of [Trump] promoting stability, peace, and prosperity in the Middle East." He added that alongside cooperation with Gulf allies, a liberated Syria, and Lebanese-Israeli negotiations, "it is clear the murderous regime in Iran is isolated and the people of Iran can regain a new government worthy of Iran's rich history."

Wilson, a strong supporter of Israel who has also backed Turkey, has been among the most prominent Capitol Hill advocates for the new Syrian government, which maintains close ties to Turkey's administration.

The pact has drawn mixed reactions in pro-Israel circles, with some viewing it as an attempt by Gulf allies to distance themselves from the U.S. And Israel, potentially creating an alternative to the Abraham Accords. U.S. Analysts told Jewish Insider the agreement warrants concern for both the U.S. And Israel, and could signal a more assertive stance toward Israel from Turkey and its Syrian ally.
