Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar expressed solidarity with Japan on Wednesday following a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the southern island of Kyushu on Tuesday, killing at least 13 people and leaving others missing in the Kumamoto prefecture.
In a post on X, Sa'ar stated, "My thoughts are with the people of Japan following the devastating earthquake," And tagged his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi. He added that "Israel stands with our friends in Japan at this difficult time."
Sa'ar also offered condolences, writing, "Our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones, and wishes for a swift recovery to all those injured."
The earthquake damaged buildings and infrastructure across the region. Rescue crews continued searching for people trapped beneath rubble, while hundreds were reported injured by local authorities.
