Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom's de facto leader, spoke by phone with President Donald Trump on Saturday to express concern about potential U.S. Escalation of the conflict with Iran, according to a person familiar with the discussion.
The call came as Trump considers launching new strikes against Iran. The Saudis worry that if the U.S. Targets Iran's energy infrastructure or carries out major strikes on other critical infrastructure, Tehran could retaliate by attacking energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, the briefed source said.
During the conversation, the crown prince sought details from Trump about what actions he was considering against Iran. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the call.
