SCOOP: Nevada governor tells JNS he wasn't asked before state added to 'friend of court' Brief defending Harvard against federal charges of being lax on Jew-hatred

The state of Nevada was included among 21 jurisdictions on an amicus brief filed in support of Harvard University after the Trump administration moved to revoke the institution's federal funding over its handling of antisemitism on campus.

In the brief, the signatory states and District of Columbia stated: "The amici states write to underscore the enormous public benefit of university research and the dire risks posed by federal attacks on such research." They further noted: "Harvard's contributions to Massachusetts are a prime example of the significant impact that research universities can have."

Nevada's Governor Joe Lombardo, a Republican, was not informed before the state joined the filing. According to Drew Galang, the governor's communications director, "the governor's office was not consulted before Attorney General Ford joined the brief."

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, a Democrat, signed the brief alongside the attorneys general of Massachusetts, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia.

Ford is currently running for governor against Lombardo.
