“Serious Security Failure:” Unusual Incident on Flight From Amsterdam to Israel

An Arkia flight from Amsterdam to Israel encountered an unusual situation over the weekend when a passenger without a ticket for that flight was discovered after the aircraft had begun taxiing toward the runway. The plane returned to its parking position at the airport.

Passenger Eran recounted that the pilot informed travelers during takeoff preparations that the aircraft would return to the gate. Flight attendants explained there was a security incident involving a passenger who had boarded without proper documentation. Security personnel arrived and removed the individual from the plane within minutes.

Eran questioned how the passenger managed to reach the boarding gate and board the aircraft. "How is it possible for someone without a ticket to reach the boarding gate, get past the flight attendants during the final check before boarding, and sit down on a plane about to take off for Israel? This is not a routine delay, but a serious security failure that requires an investigation and clear explanations," He said.

Eran also noted that passengers received limited information during the incident. "We were not given proper information, and we did not receive clear answers to our questions," He stated, adding that passengers experienced stress over the extended time confined to the aircraft.

Following the passenger's removal, a technical malfunction was discovered on the plane, causing an additional delay before departure.

Arkia stated that during passenger counting before takeoff, staff discovered one passenger had boarded with a ticket for a different flight. The passenger, traveling without luggage, had completed all screening and security procedures at Amsterdam Airport. Upon discovery of the error, he was removed and transferred to his correct flight.

The airline noted that the technical malfunction discovered afterward was entirely separate from the passenger incident and unrelated to the boarding error.
