Several Miles From Israeli Border: Syrian Forces Uncover 9-Member ISIS Cell
Syrian internal security forces announced the capture of a nine-member ISIS cell in Khan Arnabah, a city in the Quneitra Governorate in southern Syria, located several kilometers from the Israeli border in the Golan Heights. According to a statement from the forces, the cell was engaged in collecting weapons, transferring explosive devices and equipment for manufacturing explosives, and facilitating the movement of ISIS terrorists.

The cell's leader was identified as Musab Khalil al-Sheikh, known by the nickname "al-Sini."
The operation follows other recent security developments in the region. Last month, Syrian authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons and missiles across the border with Iraq. An investigation determined the weapons were intended for Hezbollah in Lebanon. Security forces intercepted a truck near the Iraqi border containing 150 explosive drones, long-range missiles, and anti-tank missiles.
In June, Israeli Defense Force soldiers eliminated members of a terrorist cell in the security zone in southern Syria who were believed to be en route to Israel to carry out an attack. The IDF has established nine military positions in Syria in recent months to prevent hostile elements from operating in the area or infiltrating Israel.
