Six Flags Great Adventure has unveiled Bakunawa, a 382-foot roller coaster scheduled to debut in 2027. The park claims the ride will set six world records.
Named after a mythical Philippine sea serpent, Bakunawa will travel at speeds up to 100 mph across a 3,163-foot track. The coaster features three launch points, including what Six Flags describes as the world's first upside-down launch, using free-spinning, floorless trains.
According to the park, Bakunawa will become the world's tallest and fastest spinning coaster. It will also hold records for fastest inversion, longest stall inversion, first floorless spinning coaster, and first upside-down launch.
The ride will anchor a redesigned Boardwalk area at the Jackson, New Jersey, facility. Each train accommodates 20 riders, with cycle times of approximately 2 minutes and 17 seconds. A 48-inch minimum height requirement applies.
