Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Settlements and National Missions Minister Orit Strook called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convene the Security Cabinet immediately to revoke its approval of a US-brokered Gaza peace plan.
The ministers also urged prevention of an International Stabilization Force from entering Gaza until its "purpose, legal authority, and missions" Are properly amended and clearly defined.
In a statement, Smotrich said the 15-point Roadmap plan published by the Board of Peace differs fundamentally from the proposal presented to and voted on by the Security Cabinet on October 9, 2025. He identified several areas of disagreement, including that the framework does not guarantee full Gaza demilitarization, requires Israeli military withdrawal before Hamas disarms, applies Palestinian Authority anti-Semitic legislation in Gaza, alters the ISF mandate in ways that restrict Israeli Defense Forces operations, and restores a Palestinian state as a political objective.
"A framework that contradicts the objectives of the war and the commitments made to Israel cannot be advanced in Gaza. I will not allow such a framework to erase the tremendous achievements won by the heroic soldiers of the IDF through their blood, their bodies, and their sacrifice," Smotrich wrote.
An Israeli official said Sunday that Israel has conveyed "serious security concerns" To the White House regarding disarmament of Hamas. Prime Minister's Office spokesman Doron Spielman told the Associated Press that Israel's intelligence assessment indicates Hamas remains committed to rebuilding military capabilities and that the IDF will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is disarmed.
"Our assessment is that if we redeploy before Hamas is truly disarmed, it will quickly expand its presence throughout Gaza, rebuild its terrorist infrastructure, once again threaten Israeli communities, and seek to carry out another Oct. 7-style attack," Spielman said, referencing the October 7, 2023, attack that killed 1,200 people in Israel.
"Disarming means physically giving up the weapons. Nothing less," Spielman added.
