Beis Menachem, Chabad Lubavitch in Tannersville, New York, hosted an annual Yarchei Kallah Melaveh Malkah for Jewish vacationers, commemorating the 82nd yartzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, the Rebbe's father. The event, held on the eve of Chof Menachem Av, draws Chassidim from various communities, yeshiva students, and kollel members for an evening of Torah study, Chassidic teachings, and farbrengen.
Tannersville, situated in New York's Hunter Mountains, has developed into a major summer destination for Jewish families. The community features multiple synagogues, study halls, kollelim, summer yeshivos, kosher amenities, and family accommodations. Three primary institutions anchor the community: Beis Menachem, Chabad Lubavitch led by Rabbi Mordechai Stern; the historic Anshei HaSharon Congregation under Rabbi Yehoshua Bornstein; and the Boston Shul, established by the Bostoner Rebbe and now led by Rabbi Chaim Meir Stockhammer.
Rabbi Stern opened the program with insights from the Rebbe's teachings regarding his father's life and legacy, highlighting Harav Levi Yitzchok's dedication during Soviet exile and encouraging attendees to draw inspiration from his commitment to Torah and the Rebbe's mission.
Rabbi Bornstein spoke about strengthening Torah study and mitzvah observance through faith, stating these efforts "hasten the coming of Moshiach." Rabbi Stockhammer praised the Rebbe's emissaries worldwide for their work bringing Jews closer to Torah and mitzvos. Philanthropist Reb Sholom Ber Drizin, a longtime community founder, addressed the gathering with teachings on divine blessings and offered blessings to participants.
The evening concluded with traditional singing and blessings. The event was organized by Beis Menachem's leadership, with coordination by R' Sholom Dovber Rabkin and R' Dovid Shputz.
