Rav Reuven Margulios (1889-1971) authored works spanning biography, history, and Talmudic analysis. His published volumes examined the conduct of Talmud sages and explained seemingly unusual behavior through the lens of their halachic positions. His scholarship encompassed extensive study of Shas, Midrash, Rishonim, Acharonim, and Kabbalah. His publications included Malachei Elyon, an encyclopedia on angels; Margoliyos Hayam, a commentary on Meseches Sanhedrin; Nefesh Chayah, a commentary on Shulchan Aruch; Nitzotzei Zohar, a commentary on the Zohar and Tikunei Zohar; and Olelos, essays on Tanach, Shas, the siddur, and history.
Rav Aryeh Leib Lopian, Rosh Yeshiva of Gateshead, passed away in 1979.
