TROUBLING POLL: Nearly Half Of Britons Want Fewer Or No Israeli Immigrants In The UK

A YouGov poll has found growing opposition to Israeli immigration in Britain, with nearly half of respondents saying they want fewer Israelis or no Israelis at all allowed to immigrate to the United Kingdom. According to the survey, 23% of Britons said immigration from Israel should be reduced, while another 24% said no Israeli immigrants should be admitted at all. Combined, 47% of respondents favored either reducing or completely stopping Israeli immigration, representing an increase of eight percentage points from 39% in 2016.

The poll examined how British attitudes toward immigration from various countries have changed over the past decade, including differences between those who voted Remain and Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum. Among Remain voters, opposition to Israeli immigration increased significantly, rising from 27% in 2016 to 41%. Among Leave voters, attitudes remained virtually unchanged, with 52% saying in both 2016 and 2026 that Britain should accept fewer or no Israeli immigrants.

The survey also examined attitudes based on how respondents voted in Britain's 2024 general election. The highest levels of opposition to Israeli immigration were found among Reform UK and Green voters, at approximately 52% to 53%. Among Labour and Conservative voters, the figure was in the mid to high 40% range, while Liberal Democrat voters registered the lowest level of opposition at approximately 41%.

Israel was not the country facing the highest opposition to immigration. Russia topped the list with 58% of respondents saying they wanted fewer or no Russian immigrants, followed by Pakistan at 52%, Nigeria at 48%, Israel at 47%, Egypt and India at 44%, and Turkey at 43%.
