Trump's solicitor general filed the request Friday, seeking to overturn a recent decision by a three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The appellate panel had ruled that Trump must halt the ballroom construction because Congress has not approved the project. The panel's majority determined that Trump lacks the authority to unilaterally construct a 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the site of the White House's former East Wing, which Trump ordered demolished in the fall.
