Trump Says He'd 'Love to Run' Again in 2028, Acknowledges Constitutional Limits

President Donald Trump said he would welcome another presidential run in 2028, while acknowledging constitutional constraints on doing so.

When asked by reporters whether he was serious about pursuing another campaign after repeatedly referencing the 2028 election recently, Trump recognized the legal barriers. "Everybody asks me that question, and you know that the law is very strong on that," He said. "I'd love to run, but the law is very strong."

The question followed a "Trump 2028" Advertisement displayed at a recent dinner event and repeated chants from supporters encouraging another bid.

Trump noted the issue comes up frequently. "I get asked by everyone... Even tonight, they're screaming at the event, '2028.'"

He stopped short of stating an intention to challenge the constitutional prohibition against serving more than two elected presidential terms. The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951 following Franklin D. Roosevelt's four presidential victories, bars any individual from being elected president more than twice. Trump has been elected president twice, in 2016 and 2024, making him ineligible for another elected term under current constitutional rules.
