The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain has received information suggesting Iran may target "unspecified locations in central Manama," According to a State Department announcement Monday.
The embassy instructed Americans in Bahrain to stay alert, comply with local authority guidance and review current security advisories. "If you hear a loud explosion, or if sirens are activated, immediately seek cover," The embassy stated in its alert.
Officials cautioned that fragments from intercepted missiles or drones present a "significant risk" And advised avoiding fallen debris. Americans were also told to steer clear of protests, large gatherings and areas with significant police activity, maintain awareness of their surroundings and monitor official channels and news coverage.
The State Department issued a broader caution Saturday for Americans worldwide, particularly in the Middle East, to exercise heightened caution due to elevated regional tensions "with the potential for unforeseen escalation."
The alert came after Iranian missile and drone strikes Friday on military facilities in Jordan killed two U.S. Service members, with a third reported missing.
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued comparable guidance Saturday, instructing Americans in the region to "exercise increased caution" Amid heightened tensions. The embassy advised against travel to the Gaza Strip, northern Israel and Israel's border with Egypt, with the exception of the Taba Crossing.
