The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has extended temporary travel restrictions for U.S. Government personnel and their families into the West Bank through Wednesday, citing heightened security concerns and increased volatility in the region.
"Due to heightened security concerns and increased volatility in the West Bank, the U.S. Embassy is temporarily restricting personal travel by all U.S. Government personnel and family members into the West Bank," The embassy said in a statement.
The embassy advised people in the region to remain vigilant, avoid demonstrations and areas with significant police activity, and comply with instructions from local authorities.
The State Department's existing travel advisory covering Israel, the West Bank and Gaza continues to apply, along with its general guidance for American travelers.
