The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued a security alert on Saturday urging American citizens in the Middle East to "exercise increased caution" Amid heightened regional tensions.
In a statement, the embassy advised Americans to remain vigilant and stay informed of developments. It recommended that those traveling in or through the region confirm with their airlines that flights remain scheduled.
The embassy cautioned Americans against travel to Gaza, northern Israel, and Israel's border with Egypt, with the exception of the Taba Crossing point.
The embassy noted that "the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation," Emphasizing the need for continued vigilance among Americans in the area.
The alert comes as Israel has so far avoided renewed military confrontations with Iran and its proxies, while U.S. Forces have resumed strikes on Iran following a dispute over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has stated it will not permit vessel transit through alternate routes at the chokepoint without its authorization and has reportedly conducted strikes using one-way attack drones and missiles against commercial ships, contributing to the current escalation.
