The U.S. Department of War released the identities of two American service members killed in action in Jordan over the weekend. First Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was killed on July 18, while Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was killed on July 17.
Both were killed by "enemy fire" While supporting "Operation Inherent Resolve," According to the department statement. The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation, and it is unclear who was responsible or the specific manner in which they were killed.
"Operation Inherent Resolve" Is an ongoing U.S. Military operation spanning Iraq, Syria and Libya as part of an international campaign against Islamic State. The mission has been active for 12 years.
The deaths followed Iranian strikes on U.S. Military sites in Jordan, after which U.S. Central Command reported that two soldiers had been killed and another was missing in action.
