A 21-year-old Washington state resident pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempting to support ISIS, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
Saed Ali Mirreh of Kent was arrested in November 2025 as he prepared to board a flight to Turkey, intending to cross into Syria to fight for the designated foreign terror organization.
According to the plea agreement, Mirreh began communicating with co-conspirators in July 2025 while aware of ISIS's designation as a U.S. Foreign terror organization. He purchased a plane ticket from Seattle to Istanbul with plans to join others and travel to Syria.
The group's plans were disrupted after conspiracy members in Dearborn, Michigan were arrested in late October and charged with plotting an attack on American soil for ISIS. Mirreh accelerated his travel timeline and was arrested the day before his scheduled departure.
Prosecutors stated that communications between the conspirators included detailed plans to participate in "jihad," Involving physical weapons training and methods to evade law enforcement.
Mirreh is scheduled for sentencing in October and faces up to 20 years in prison.
