A Wisconsin judge convicted of helping an undocumented immigrant evade federal immigration agents received a $5,000 fine and avoided prison time.
Judge Hannah Dugan faced up to five years in prison after a December conviction on a felony obstruction of justice charge. According to prosecutors, she assisted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican national residing in the country illegally, in exiting through a rear courthouse entrance to avoid ICE agents who were waiting at the facility.
The conduct occurred during the early stages of President Trump's campaign to increase immigration enforcement and intensify efforts against illegal immigration.
