Charlotte's Lyrics Change a Divine Message, Says Plotzker

Ten weeks after her death prompted a worldwide peace campaign, video emerged showing eight-year-old Charlotte Herzberg singing with an alteration that Shaindy Plotzker attributed spiritual significance to.

Plotzker had released footage of Charlotte performing Abie Rotenberg's "Neshome'le" Shortly after Tisha B'Av, which went viral. In an August 11 social media post, Plotzker revealed that Charlotte had changed one word in the song's lyrics.

"If you know the original song Neshomele, which was put out by R' Abie Rotenberg many years ago, the lyric goes as follows, 'let me stay here up in heaven, where it's safe and I'll be pure,'" Plotzker said. Charlotte had sung "I'm safe" Instead of "it's safe."

After listening repeatedly to the recording following Charlotte's death, Plotzker reflected on the change. "It's almost like in that moment her neshama knew," Plotzker shared. "It's like Charlotte's sending us a message that she's safe, I'm okay."

Plotzker said the altered lyric reinforced a broader perspective. "It reminds me that Hashem plans every little thing in our lives," Plotzker said. "We don't always get the answers, but sometimes, it clicks. Because when Charlotte changed one lyric six months ago, we had no clue what it would mean to us now, and it's just a reminder that Hashem is in every. Single. Moment."

The recording was made in June at an estate in Alpine, New Jersey, featuring Plotzker's voice students and Charlotte's previously recorded solo, accumulating over 101,000 views within two weeks.
