From Reb Levi Yitzchok: The Trees of Life and Knowledge

A weekly class on the teachings of Harav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson explores the spiritual significance of trees in Jewish thought. Schneerson served as chief rabbi of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, during the Bolshevik revolution and Communist period, and was the father of the Rebbe.

Rabbi Dovid Dubov, Director of Chabad of Mercer County in Princeton, New Jersey, and author of Yalkut Levi Yitzchok, an anthology of commentaries from Harav Levi Yitzchak's works, presents the class.

According to the teachings discussed, man is compared to a tree. Two trees are identified: the Tree of Life, associated with faith and Chasidus, and the Tree of Knowledge, linked to intellect and the revealed aspects of Torah.
