A special Beis Habechirah program launched this summer at Gan Menachem Montreal for boys ages eight and up, marking 50 years since the initiative to study Hilchos Beis Habechirah during the Three Weeks was introduced. The program aimed to leave participants knowledgeable about the Beis Hamikdash by summer's end.
Each week, boys completed multiple-choice worksheets focused on different sections of the Beis Hamikdash. Following classroom instruction, instructors displayed a 3D video model of the structure while boys circled answers on their worksheets, which were collected weekly.
Over seventy boys participated in the first week. Participants received rewards for their involvement: special Rebbe pictures for personal Camp Rebbe albums in week one, popsicles in the second week, and an ice cream party by the third week. The albums were dedicated לעילוי נשמת הרב צמח יוסף יצחק בן ר' יהושע, Rabbi Wilansky A"H, described as one of the camp's founders.
An advanced track was available for boys pursuing deeper learning. These participants took written tests each Friday on weekly material and received a special pizza lunch in recognition of their effort.
HC Rabbi Mendy Berkowitz designed and led the program. On-site directors Rabbi Shmuel Vaisfische and Rabbi Moshe Berkowitz, along with Rebbis and staff, contributed to the summer's success.
