INCREDIBLE HASHGACHA IN FRANCE: 80 Bochurim Escape Camp Chazon Fire; All Tefillin Miraculously Spared

A fire engulfed one of the dormitories at Camp Chazon in the French mountains, though all campers and staff escaped unharmed in what observers described as a remarkable instance of divine providence.

The incident occurred as a group of 60 bochurim from England, who were staying at the camp in a chalet, returned from a day trip to Glacier 3000 in Switzerland. Upon their arrival, they found one dormitory completely engulfed in smoke.

The timing proved significant in several respects. The entire camp - nearly 80 people including all staff members - happened to be away on the excursion, marking the first time in two weeks that the building had been fully evacuated. The fire broke out on the final day of camp, requiring accommodation arrangements for only one additional night. The facility had already been largely cleared and cleaned in preparation for closing, which limited the fire's spread.

The dormitory was destroyed, but surrounding structures remained untouched, including the beis hamedrash. Most notably, nearly all pairs of tefillin stored in the building were found intact on beds that were otherwise burned extensively.
