Siyum Concludes Action-Packed Summer at YSP Morristown

A record 152 bochurim at Yeshiva Summer Program Morristown completed the entire Perek Lulav V'Arava of Maseches Sukkah baal peh this summer, marking a highlight of a session in which every talmid advanced in his learning.

Recognition came throughout the summer via events and seforim, with the program culminating in a grand award ceremony held in the YSP Zal before the entire program.

Rabbi Mendel Goldberg, Director of YSP, told the talmidim that "The Gemara Baal Peh program is really the ikkar of the summer. Every sports game, trip, and activity is giving us the chayus for what's really important."

Rabbi Chaim Shapiro, Mara D'Asra of Morristown and Menahel of Tomchei Temimim, Rabbinical College of America, discussed the nachas ruach the talmidim's learning brings to the Rebbe and how such accomplishment prepares a bochur for his coming years in yeshiva and lifetime of study.

Talmid Nachi Zirkind of Montreal delivered the siyum. Talmid Zalman Alevsky of Cleveland, Ohio, then reflected on the milestone's personal significance, stating: "I never thought I would be able to accomplish this, but when you really work hard and put yourself to it, you can really accomplish big things."

A public farher followed, conducted by Rabbi Yitzchok Tenenbaum and Rabbi Meilech Backman, Magidei Shiurim in YSP, with bochurim answering questions and demonstrating their knowledge of the perek.

Every talmid who completed the perek received a certificate and his own set of Shas.

The summer schedule encompassed special events including trips, entertainment, speakers, and Mivtza activities. A new extracurricular program offered alternatives to competitive leagues with options such as baking, Mivtzoim, arts and crafts, biking, and hiking.

The Learning Directors noted that 296 talmidim attended YSP this summer, and reported seeing tremendous growth across the program.
