Crown Heights Hospitality Venue Debuts by Hosting Siyum

Members of Bais Shmuel Chabad Congregation in Crown Heights gathered at the newly opened The BH, Bespoke Hospitality to mark the completion of nearly three years of daily halacha study with a Siyum on Chelek Alef of the Shulchan Aruch.

The study initiative began following the October 7 attacks, when congregation members committed to dedicating five minutes each day to learning halacha for the safe return of hostages. The undertaking drew inspiration from the verse "Tzion bemishpat tipadeh veshaveha bitzdoka" ("Zion shall be redeemed through justice, and those who return to her through righteousness"), understood by Chazal to reference the study and observance of halacha as a spiritual merit for those in captivity.

Led by Rabbi Lipe Kosofsky, the group maintained its daily learning at 12:58 pm, completing Chelek Alef of the Shulchan Aruch in two years and ten months.

The Siyum was held on Chof Av, the yahrtzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe's father, in keeping with the Rebbe's custom of marking a yahrtzeit with a siyum.

Rabbi Levi Garelik, rav of Bais Shmuel, and Rabbi Tuvia Kasimov, rav of Empire Shtiebel, addressed the gathering, speaking about the importance of limud halacha and its impact on family life, and inspiring participants toward continued dedication to Torah and ongoing prayers for redemption.

The event concluded with participants renewing their commitment to continue daily learning as they began the next section of the Shulchan Aruch.
