United to Resume Nonstop Newark - Tel Aviv Flights September 8

United Airlines will resume nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Ben Gurion Airport on September 8, following months of cancellations linked to the regional conflict.

"United still plans to resume service between Newark and Tel Aviv on Sept. 8 with two daily flights," The airline said in a statement.

The route had been suspended through September 7 after the airline halted flights to Israel following the February 28 closure of Israeli airspace to most commercial aviation. Ben Gurion Airport has since fully reopened, and international carriers have begun restoring service.

American Airlines announced it will maintain its suspension of Israel service until March 27, 2027, while Delta Air Lines has extended cancellations of nonstop flights from New York and Atlanta through September 5.

During the period when major U.S. Carriers suspended operations, passengers seeking nonstop service to Israel were largely limited to Israeli carriers El Al and Arkia.

The resumption of United service is expected to increase capacity for travelers heading to Israel ahead of the Yom Tov season, which begins with Rosh Hashanah on the evening of September 11 and typically draws increased visitor numbers.
